On My Own Event
Freshmen students recently participated in the 4-H extension office's "On My Own" event, an engaging financial education simulation that aims to prepare youth for the financial responsibilities of adulthood. 💼 Participants experienced the challenges of managing a household budget, from housing and groceries to unexpected expenses.
Sponsored by Bank of Lincoln County, this program empowered our youth to understand essential financial concepts. Thank you to all of our volunteers for helping make this day a sucess!

Empowering Future Leaders: Mock Interview Day at Lincoln County High School
Lincoln County High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department, in partnership with the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, continues its commitment to preparing students for life beyond the classroom. Recently, seniors at LCHS participated in the annual Mock Interview Day, a unique event designed to strengthen their professional and career-readiness skills.
Dr. Andrea Brewer, Work-Based Learning Coordinator, helped lead the effort alongside Mrs. Allison Day, LCHS’s Media Specialist, whose support and assistance kept everything running smoothly. Together, with the collaboration of LCHS’ Government/Economics teachers and many community volunteers, students were able to sit down with local professionals for one-on-one interviews.
The benefits extend both ways. Students connected with potential employers, opening doors to internships, mentorships, and even job opportunities. At the same time, interviewers gained valuable insight into the talents, skills, and drive of the next generation entering the workforce.
Dr. Brewer shared, “We had both returning and first-time interviewers this year. Every interviewer I spoke with expressed how impressed they were with our students.” Feedback from interviewers highlighted the caliber of the student participants:
“He is what I consider to be the ’perfect’ candidate for our organization.”
“I invited her to shadow/intern with us anytime!”
“We WILL make him an offer.”
“Very open, well spoken, confident - Amazing!
Students left the event encouraged and inspired, while community leaders voiced enthusiasm about the strength of Lincoln County’s future workforce. This program would not be possible without the dedicated volunteers who generously give their time and expertise to support local youth. Their investment helps ensure that students leave high school not only with academic knowledge but also with the confidence and skills necessary to succeed in their future careers.
